Dubai International Airport Transfers

• Al Ain is 80 miles south or a 1 hour 45-minute Dubai Airport transfer. Admire thousands of date palms at this UNESCO World Heritage-listed oasis, nicknamed the Garden City. See the museum and fort, stroll shady walkways and learn about desert irrigation.
• Sharjah is 16.5 miles away, or less than a 40-minute hop from the airport. The UAE’s ‘cultural capital’ has over 20 museums and galleries, including one dedicated to Islamic civilisation. Check out modern Arab work at the art museum. Stroll the heritage area’s alleyways, and visit the butterfly house on Al Noor island.
• Fujairah lies 70 miles east and is around a 1 hour 40-minute run from Dubai International. It’s a commercial hub with a museum housing an archaeological collection, a heritage village plus a fort. Local dive centres visit popular sites including Dibba Rock and Coral Gardens.
• Abu Dhabi is the UAE’s capital, 90 minutes from Dubai International or a 90-mile trip. Expect a modern skyline of shining towers – but don’t miss the marble domes of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. On Saadiyat Island, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is a must-see for art buffs.
• Khor Fakkan is 76 miles east or a 96-minute Dubai Airport transfer. This small port town offers a relaxing getaway. The corniche is flanked by palms, gardens and kids’ playgrounds. There’s also a beach, water-based activities and a fish market.
• Ras Al Khaimah is 62 miles north; allow an hour and a half for your Dubai Airport transfer. This beautiful, mountain-ringed emirate offers sandy beaches, deserts, hot springs and adventure sports aplenty. Catch a falcon show and visit the waterpark, fort and museum.

1. Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is nine miles south-west or under 20 minutes by Dubai Airport transfer. Its 33,000 marine-life specimens. Walk an underwater tunnel below a tank filled with sharks and stingrays and see the creepy-crawly zone slithering with snakes!
2. Wild Wadi Water Park lies 16 miles or 30 minutes south. It offers dozens of rides and attractions and is themed on the story of folklore character Juha. Brave one of the free-fall water rides or the Master Blaster roller coaster!
3. Hatta Lake is 80 miles away or a Dubai Airport transfer time of well under two hours. Against a backdrop of craggy mountains, it offers mountain biking, kayaking and an escape from urban bustle. Pop in to Hatta Heritage Village to learn about traditional mountain life.
4. Mleiha Archaeological Site is located less than an hour east, or a 42-mile Dubai Airport transfer. It’s one of the UAE’s most important historic sites, and a desert activity centre. Take a desert tour, go trekking or horse-riding and tour the archaeological site.
5. Ferrari World is found 76 miles south-west in Abu Dhabi; allow 80 minutes to travel there. The ‘world’s biggest indoor theme park’ offers rollercoaster rides, F1 race courses, children’s rides, audio-visual attractions and a Ferrari car museum.
6. Jebel Jais is 90 miles north, or a two-hour Dubai Airport transfer. At 6,345ft it’s the UAE’s tallest peak. Take a scenic drive, absorb incredible vistas from the viewing deck, and, if you’re hearty enough, ride the zip line.

Wheelchair users are prioritised at security, and wheelchairs are available inside terminals; you need to book these with your airline in advance. There’s a helpdesk in the Terminal 1 departures hall, plus dedicated lounges for those with additional needs. You can be escorted to your aeroplane seat if necessary. Most doors open automatically, while toilets, check-in desks, drinking fountains, lifts and boarding gates are all wheel-chair accessible. Whatever extra help you need, discuss it with your airline in good time pre-departure.
