- Costa Teguise is nine miles up the coast, 15 minutes from the airport. The former capital is nearly 600 years old. Check out the Sunday market and the many ancient buildings, overlooked by Castillo de Santa Barbara, built as protection from Moorish pirates and now housing a piracy museum.
