- Santa Bárbara Castle lies 15 miles north of the airport on Mount Benacantil. This spectacular fortress is reachable within 30 minutes by Alicante Airport Transfer. It dates back to the ninth century and Muslim rule. There are lifts, guided tours, refreshments – and gorgeous views.
- Aqualandia is 40-odd miles north up the coast near Benidorm, and you can be there within an hour. Expect chutes and slides everyone will love, plus a lazy river. Aqualandia is twinned with the neighbouring marine park Mundomar.
- Parque El Palmeral is six miles north – an Alicante Airport transfer can have you there in under 15 minutes. Offering a peaceful setting, it’s a lovely park full of palm trees, hibiscus and water features. Take a book and stay a while!
- Santa Faz Monastery is 20 minutes away, being some 14 miles from the airport. The baroque-style monastery has a pyramid-shaped dome and is home to a piece of the veil said to have been used to wipe Jesus’ face on the cross.
