Indira Gandhi International (Delhi) Airport Transfers

• Manesar is 21 miles south-west, i.e. a Delhi I7nternational transfer within 45 minutes. At this rural retreat, you can tour the Heritage Transport Museum, browse local handicrafts and generally enjoy a day of relaxation away from the city.
• Neemrana lies 65 miles south-west or roughly a two-hour Delhi Airport transfer. Enjoy the hills and greenery of this historic Rajasthan town. Visit the ancient Fort Palace and Vinay Vilas Mahal, now a museum, and take a nature trek around the lake.
• Old Delhi is 15 miles north-east of Delhi International – allow for a 40-minute Indira Gandhi Airport transfer. The capital of the Mughal Empire offers small eateries, buzzing markets and cow-filled streets while oozing history and culture. A nice contrast to New Delhi.
• Agra, situated 145 miles sours south-east, is a Delhi Airport transfer of nearly four hours. The city’s Mughal-era buildings include the astounding Taj Mahal and the sixteenth-century sandstone Agra Red Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. You’ll love the architecture and history-soaked ambience.
• Jaipur is 180 miles to the south-west, or four and a half hours from the airport – but it’s unmissable! The ‘pink city’ is a unique mix of stunning architecture, heritage and modern urban chic. Visit gardens, holy temples, forts, palaces and more – then shop in the vibrant bazaars.
• Sohna is just an 80-minute Delhi Airport transfer, lying 26 miles due south. This popular tourist retreat located near a vertical rock in hilly terrain is known for the medicinal, holy waters of its hot springs, and its Shiva temple. Take in Bharatpur Hill fort, too.

1. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary lies 25 miles west – be here within an hour from Indira Gandhi International. It’s a twitcher’s paradise and a haven for migrant species. Watch the diverse avian population among the serene wetlands here, and reconnect with nature near the city.
2. Damdama Lake is located 27 miles due south, meaning an hour-long Delhi Airport transfer. The Aravalli hills create a stunning backdrop to the lake, in Gurgaon. This popular picnic spot also offers boating, superb bird-watching and nature walks.
3. Akshardham is within 20 miles and 40 minutes of the airport, located to the north-east. Swaminarayan Akshardham temple, built in 2005, looks centuries older. It’s made from local red sandstone and dedicated to the Swaminarayan faith, incorporating an 11-ft gold statue of its founder.
4. The Taj Mahal is 145 miles away, making for a four-hour Indira Gandhi International Airport transfer. Few trips to India are complete without seeing this Wonder of the World, the showstopping memorial to Shah Jahan’s wife, combining Persian and Mughal architecture and the famous marble tomb.
5. Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary is just 40 minutes away, lying 12 miles east of Indira Gandhi Airport in the Aravalli Hills. Look out for Bengal tigers, leopards and bird species in their natural habitats. You’ll also see dense forest, historic ruins and ancient temples here.
6. The Red Fort is an hour-long Delhi International transfer, being 15 miles north-east in Old Delhi. This magnificent fort, set behind an 18m wall, took 10 years to build in the 1600s and was founded by Emperor Shah Jahan. Appreciate its history at an evening ‘Light and Sound’ show.

There’s ample help on hand here should you need it; talk to your airline pre-departure. There are adapted phones to call from for help, motorised wheelchairs at Terminal 3 (chargeable), travel buggies, good signage and accessible lifts with Braille keys plus disabled washrooms with call buttons. Meanwhile, travellators and escalators have verbal safety instructions. Special reserved seating is located throughout Indira Gandhi International. Delhi Airport also runs the sunflower lanyard scheme to alert staff to passengers with hidden disabilities such as autism.
