Rome Ciampino Airport Transfers

• Assisi lies 115 miles north, or a 2 hour 15-minute trip. The birthplace of St Francis, it’s also where you’ll find the Basilica named after him, as well as the People’s Palace and the Temple of Minerva.
• Florence lies 180 miles north, or a journey time of just over three hours. It’s packed with art and history; don’t miss the Loggia del Lanzi or the cathedral. Stroll over the Ponte Vecchio, see Michelangelo’s David and cross the Arno River to take in the quieter Oltarno district.
• Siena is located some 150 miles north; Ciampino Airport transfers take just over 2 hours 30 minutes. Full of charm and culture, its highlights include the Piazza del Campo and Palazzo Pubblico in the heart of town, alongside the Torre del Mangia, a medieval belfry. It’s compact, charismatic and romantic – with obvious highlights including the Colosseum, Forum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and, of course, St Peter’s Square and Basilica.

1. Pompeii is 143 miles south-east, meaning a 2 hour 20-minute Ciampino Airport transfer. Stroll the ancient ruins and gain a rare insight into life in Roman times. Hike up Mount Vesuvius, which erupted in 79AD, obliterating the town below, for amazing views.
2. Vatican City lies 21 miles north-west; be there in 35 minutes from the airport. The complex is the Pope’s full-time residence, with incredible architecture to experience and, obviously, massive religious significance. Visit the Sistine Chapel, plus the museums and gardens.
3. Caserta Palace is some 116 miles south, reachable by Ciampino Airport transfer within two hours. Known as the ‘Italian Versailles’, it has five floors, 1,200 rooms and is stuffed with stunning décor, tapestries and frescoes. It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
4. Lake Trasimeno is 120 miles away or 2 hours 15 minutes by road. Tour local islands by ferry or cycle around the shore and check out the nearby castles – it’s a relaxing and attractive place for a day trip from Rome.
5. Pincio Hill Gardens are within 30 minutes or 10 miles by Ciampino Airport Transfer. The nineteenth-century hill overlooks the Piazza del Popolo. There are also nice views across St Peter’s and Gianicolo Hill.
6. The Temple of Vesta is 12.4 miles away or roughly a 35-minute transfer from Ciampino. This ruined circular temple from the first century BC is a famous archaeological landmark that has been the subject of work from artists including Turner.

You should encounter few accessibility issues at Rome Ciampino, which has disabled toilets and accessible lifts and is wheelchair-friendly.
