Dalaman Airport Transfers

• Fethiye is 30 miles east up the coast – be there in 50 minutes with a Dalaman Airport transfer. This Turquoise Coast port has a natural harbour, and rock tombs including the fourth-century BC Tomb of Amyntas. Explore local islands, hit the beach at Ölüdeniz or visit the Butterfly Valley nature reserve.
• Marmaris lies 60 miles west – about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the airport. This Mediterranean resort on the Turquoise Coast features a pebbly beach, seafront prom and bazaar. Bar Street offers nightlife, but Marmaris is also near pine-covered mountains and has amazing diving and sailing.
• Sarigerme is 11 miles or 20-odd minutes west by Dalaman Airport transfer. Once a bustling city, this laid-back resort has a villagey feel. The long, sandy beach attracts kiteboarders, plus there are numerous bars and restaurants, all set in a gorgeous national park.
• Kalkan lies within 80 miles of the airport, south-east down the coast. Allow an hour and 50 minutes to get there. With eateries and beaches galore, the resort offers spectacular hiking across mountain groves and rugged clifftops. Alternatively, enjoy a canoe ride down the Xanthos River.
• Kaş is 92 miles east – a Dalaman Airport transfer covers them in 2 hours 15 minutes. The modern town is on the site of Antiphellos, whose remains include a theatre. Check out the Lion Tomb and the bougainvillea-covered houses of the centre.
• Dalyan with its mud baths lies 19 miles to the north-west. In this traditional village you can enjoy sulphur-rich waters reported to have healing properties. Cleopatra is said to have bathed here. Check out the hot springs, while Dalyan Çayı River flows past the town.

1. Kayaköy is 35 miles south – allow an hour or so for Dalaman Airport transfers. Walk the streets of this eerie ghost town, abandoned since the 1920s when conflict drove out the last residents. The remaining buildings are a historic monument and museum.
2. Aqua Dream Water Park is 60 miles to the west, or an hour and a half from Dalaman International. This mountain-top park has rides offering various levels of thrills. Expect slides, tunnels, wave pools plus a restaurant.
3. Marmaris Castle and Museum is 60 miles or 1 hour 30 minutes away. The castle was first built by the Ionians in 1044BC and restored in Alexander the Great’s era. With views over the bay, the museum features archaeology, ethnography and art galleries.
4. Kaunos lies 46 miles or a 90-minute Dalaman Airport transfer away. This important archaeological site, with its baths, city walls, acropolis and amphitheatre, was founded in the ninth century BC.
5. İztuzu Beach is 16.5 miles north-west of Dalaman Airport. It’s a sandy stretch nearly three miles long, also called Turtle Beach since it’s a key breeding site. This narrow spit of land forms a natural barrier between the freshwater delta of the Dalyan river and the Med.
6. Saklıkent Gorge National Park is 53 miles south-east or a 90-minute ride from the airport. The gorge is 11 miles long and 300m deep. Walk through the water or go rafting here – and enjoy some refreshment at the end.

Dalaman International has accessible loos for wheelchair users, plus lifts and ramps and escalators to assist those with reduced mobility. Additionally, there are information counters in the arrivals and departure halls if you need further help.

So you should encounter few problems getting around Dalaman International. However, as an EU partner rather than a member state, Turkey isn’t obliged to comply with European law on disabled access.
