- Saffron Walden Museum: Just 10 miles or some 20 minutes away with a Stansted Airport Transfer, this museum is in a meadow by the twelfth-century Walden Castle near medieval Saffron Walden. Collections cover ancient cultures, ceramics, archaeology and more.
- Bridge End Garden: A similar distance away, these beautifully kept gardens were created in 1840. They’re split into sections, from the formal (such as the rose area and hedge maze) to the less structured (e.g. the wilderness garden.)

- Audley End Miniature Railway: A little further afield at 10 miles or some 20 minutes by road, this is a great family excursion, complete with a fairy and elf walk. There’s a play area and picnic tables or cafes, making for a well-organised trip.
- Cammas Hall Farm lies within five miles of Stansted and has a shop a tea barn and a maize maze, plus you can pick fruit. There’s also a sandpit, play area and mini quad bikes.

Accessible toilets, which parents with children may use, are on the main concourse and in Departures. Staff can arrange for a wristband identifying passengers with autism, while a transit system linking Departures and the gates is wheelchair-accessible.
