- Millennium Park lies less than seven miles south, or a 15-minute Chicago Airport transfer. In the downtown by the shores of Lake Michigan, it’s home to peaceful gardens, fountains, free events, public art, green space plus activities from rock climbing to ice skating.
- Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio is roughly 10 miles south – be there within 30 minutes from the airport – at suburban Oak Park. See where the architect lived and worked on his Prairie Style buildings. Take a guided tour before exploring the area to see more of his designs.
- The Forge Outdoor Adventure Park lies 29 miles south or a 40-minute O’Hare Airport transfer. Built on 300 acres at Lemont, it’s a great place for rope courses, ziplining, climbing walls, biking and hiking.
- Illinois Holocaust Museum is 12.5 miles north-east – be there within 25 minutes from O’Hare. Educational and thought-provoking, it features WWII survivors’ stories, plus art from Armenia, Rwanda, Cambodia and elsewhere; there’s also a haunting Nazi-era rail car.
- Apple River Canyon is well worth the two-hour, 130-mile O’Hare Airport transfer north-west. Covering nearly 300 acres, its rolling hills and winding rivers offer the chance to reconnect with nature. There are five main hiking trails here, plus trout and bass for keen anglers.
